All right, after claiming a Nobel Prize for my procrastination, I kept procrastinating my next post on this blog. I can’t say that I have been idle all day long because I have to study for my ongoing exam, keep writing for blogs and magazine I work for and so on. However, I recently noticed that I was tagged by blogger Rinth apu on her most recent post. She tagged me in a bunch of questions created by herself. Luckily, all the questions are common and easy-to-answer for me because I’m a movie freak. 😉 All right, without further needless talking, let’s get down to questions and answers.

1. Do you have any favorite movies? If so, then which ones?
A. That’s actually the most difficult question to answer as I’ve watched uncountable movies over the past two years and I can’t even remember some of their titles. If you ask for favorite movies, it’s easy for me to get confused when answering. Anyway, since I’m asked, I will answer. A few of my favorite movies are The Mist, The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption, Shutter Island and any movies based on Zombie Apocalypse.

2. Favorite actors/actresses? Is there any specific reason to why these are your favorites?
A. No. I don’t have any favorite actor/actress to mention. I like if the cast is well enough and feels real. However, a couple of Hollywood superstars I like (not that my favorite) are Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Pacino, Will Smith and more.

3. Which TV-series do you follow?
A. I live in Bangladesh and most cable TVs that feature watch-worthy TV series aren’t available here. However, I do manage to watch them via DVD. So far I’ve only watched two TV series. Nightmares and Dreamscapes cast on TNT based on Stephen King’s short stories is  the first TV series I ever watched (on a computer, of course). Later I watched The Walking Dead season 1 and fell in love with it. Now I’m following The Walking Dead Season 2 on Star Movies. (Again, it’s based on Zombie Apocalypse. Now you know how fascinated I am with this plot!)

4. Which is the best environment for watching a movie?
A. An environment that is calm, where nobody would interrupt. That’s all I prefer for watching a movie. There’s an additional requirement for movies that has a PG or R (not to mention NC-17) rating. 😛 I prefer an environment where nobody else would even enter. 😛 😛

5. Unless you’re an omnivore ;P, which kind of movies would you rather avoid?
A. I usually avoid movies based on history. I also don’t like black and white movie. I’m not a fan of war films although I don’t avoid them. I liked The Hurt Locker, The Pianist and movies alike.

6. Which is the scariest horror movie you’ve ever seen? How did it affect you?
A. I once tried to note down the titles of all the films I’ve watched. I couldn’t remember the titles of all of them. However, in the list of 200+ movie titles, more than 60% films were horror/thriller/suspense type. So, you can imagine it’s so difficult for me to narrow down to one or two titles as the scariest horror movie I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen so many. SAW (I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII 3D), Dead Silence, The Blair Witch Project, The Uninvited, Quarantine (Remake of REC) and so many better titles I can’t remember right now. I can tell, there is no scariest one. And no movie affected me so far (unless by ‘affecting me’ you meant getting afraid or fearful which happens if I try watching a horror film alone in the middle of the night).

Oh, looks like it has ended. 🙂 So, as the trend goes on, I should be tagging people. But I don’t really want to narrow down to specific people. If you have been reading this post for the past couple of minutes, I’m tagging YOU! Go on, copy the questions to your blog, answer them, publish the post and ping this post. Also comment on my post writing what you think about my taste in movies as reflected on the answers above. I’m eagerly waiting. 🙂

  1. Thanks for accepting the tag ;P. It was interesting. By the way, what is “NC-17″… and are the SAW movies really horror :-S?

    1. You are most welcome. 🙂

Movies with extremely explicit content (usually sexual) used to be X-rated or Rated X. However, X soon became synonym for hardcore pornography in American film industry. Therefore, the term X was replaced by NC-17 for the films that wasn’t really pornography. Where Rated R meant Restricted – Children under 17 requires accompanying parents or adult guardian, Rated NC-17 means No Children [at all] under 17 admitted.

I think the genre is actually thriller for the SAW series, but I refer to it as horror as well. If Friday the 13th can be a Horror film, SAW should be horror, too.

        1. No, NC-17 is anything but porn. Hardcore isn’t just a section of pornography. I can say I’m a hardcore Gmail user or I’m not a hardcore gamer. It doesn’t always refer to a section of pornography. Hardcore pornography means movies that is extremely pornographic such as Pirates, which is rated X film. R, NC-17 movies do contain explicit sex scenes, but they are not pornography.

      1. Really? I didn’t know that. Thanks for the information. I’m always confused with those ratings they have in America, cuz over here there’s only three: seven, 11 and 15. If you’re 15 you can watch all movies.

Yeah I get you but the thing is that in the SAW movies you don’t see ghosts or killers just popping out from nowhere you know… maybe it’s like “horror thriller” or something like that :P.

        1. So you like horror movies where ghosts pop out of nowhere, right? 😛 Yea I have seen many titles like that. However, what I like better (than ghosts popping out of nowhere) is unexpected events like The Uninvited (did you see it?). I was totally fooled at the end of this film.

See in the comment section I remembered two more movies I forgot to mention int he actual post. That’s why I never really talk about “best movies” in any genre. There’s just so much titles to remember that I can’t really remember. 😛

          1. No no… I didn’t mean that I like movies where ghosts pop up out of nowhere, I meant that maybe because that doesn’t happen in SAW, it’s not really a horror movie. But who am I to judge anyway :P? No, I haven’t seen The Uninvited. I usually don’t download horror movies, I just join if anybody invites me to watch one :P. It’s not cuz I’m scared watching alone, just that I get nightmares :P.

Yeah I agree, I just put that question in there cuz some people actually do have favorites ;P.

  2. You should have included the “What is the best food to eat when you’re eating?”. I have been battling that for ages. I don’t reconcile with popcorn because it is noisy! and ruins the whole listening experience. If I get a popcorn, I should at least demand a subtitle. Well, just me. XD

    1. Subtitle is important for me, especially in the case of mystery and sci-fi movies. But I don’t always require anything to eat while watching movies. In fact, most of the time I don’t eat anything during that time.

Natalie Portman? 😮 Don’t like her that much. She’s okay, but not favorite of mine. 😛

IMDb doesn’t always say the right thing. I’ve watched countless ‘amazing’ movies underrated on IMDb. So, my advice is don’t follow on IMDb. Rather depend on a good friend of yours who is also a movie freak.

Paranormal Activity feels boring to me, I don’t know why. 😕 But I liked The Blair Witch Project better. And Quarantine (REC) was also nice (I just remembered this title).

    1. Did you read my post attentively? I know you didn’t, because I’ve already indicated in my post that it’s impossible for me to come up with a list of ‘best movies’ because I’ve watched so many movies that I can’t even remember. I may come up with a list of top 10 movies but hours later I’d remember more movies that ought to be in the list instead of the ones that exist. I hope you understand what I’m trying to tell you here. 🙂 If it was possible, I would have written top ten list long ago. I haven’t because I know I simply can’t.
