I’ve already posted a somewhat detailed post of my experience attending the Automattic Grand Meetup 2015 in Park City, Utah. You can read all about it here. I haven’t posted tons of pictures of it, yet. Because I wanted to do something different with this awesome experience that I had last month.

I wanted to make a video of my experience traveling to Park City, meeting colleagues, attending workshops, activities and more. I had planned this beforehand, so I shot quite a lot of videos instead of photos which is what I’d normally do.

The problem is, shooting video is more difficult and without proper equipment it can become very shaky. So I used a third-party camera app called Instagram Hyperlapse to stabilize the shots which I later realized was a bad idea. Hyperlapse works great when in outdoors. When inside, it produces very blurry videos. Trust me, the cameras of iPhone 5s and 6s are much, much better than what you see in the video below.

After some research into how to work with this thing, I got the hang of it and really enjoyed putting this video together. πŸ™‚

Do let me know what you think about the video. I know the clips could have been better, and frankly, I didn’t bother much because the idea is to just show what was going on there. A lot more have happened than you’ll see here, but I guess I’ve got a fair bit of the Grand Meetup covered in the video.

In case you’re not familiar with what this is all about, here’s the description from the above YouTube video:

Automattic is the company behind WordPress.com, Gravatar, Jetpack.me, Simplenote, and more. Every year, it brings all of its employees together in a physical location as it’s a fully remote company. The yearly company-wide gathering is called the Grand Meetup.

October 2015 was the first time I’ve been to an Automattic Grand Meetup. I’ve shot quite a lot of pictures and videos. I thought it’d be a good idea to compile the little bits of videos showing what we’ve done at the Grand Meetup.

Note that a lot of things and activities happen at the Grand Meetup. I’ve only been able to record/capture the ones I’ve been able to attend. There are simultaneous activities going on. It was the most exciting and fun week of my life.
